I was disappointed in the lack of a bathtub display

Visit to the William Howard Taft National Historic Site in Cincinnati, Ohio. Quoting that Jeff Guy: "What? I never knew that was here!" As shocking as it may seem, we were the only visitors during our time there.

Library = possible contenders for inclusion in the Dork Olympics:

I am fairly sure that is NOT my foot attempting to cross the barricade.

No historical site would be complete without a cardboard cut-out of the man himself.

Um, I guess he liked to fish with his back to the water? And only owned the boot of a car?

The "Grand" Staircase:

I almost cried.
Did you know that the Taft's were the last family to keep a cow at the White House? You learn something new every time you visit a 3rd rate historic site!

They did not want for modern conveniences. The lace tablecloth soothes the incongruity.

A key to the city, much like the one presented to the Bengal's coach.

I share your disappointment at not seeing the tub in which he got stuck. I think the library is quite manageable. Most libraries, for some reason, have so many books that I could never read them all. This one, I perceive, has a difference.

The,

Dad.

Apparently his getting stuck in a bathtub is an urban legend (or another one of those lies you told us as kids), for no mention was made of tubs other than to say that new ones were installed in the White House during his tenure there, and to show a picture of one.

This tub was so large that in said picture, there were four fully clothed adults sitting in it, of course maintaining a proper Victorian-era distance from one another.

Come and alert us to something we have missed in our hometown. Not that there is all that much in J'ville, but perhaps we could attend the Friday night car races. Oops, we did that once in 1987 I believe. PML from this place.

So when you visit, HK, are you OK with visiting 3rd rate sites?

The, Dad, and The Mother really enjoyed this red building I took them to. We think it might be a half-way house. It was still under construction and a guy was smoking in the hall.

(Actually Devon again)

Don't we attend the Friday night car races every other year? On the opposite year of the state fair of course. We couldn't handle all that excitement in the span of 12 months.

"I'm pretty sure this isn't the year for the fair. We must have gone last year, so we'll go next year." (Repeat ad nauseum until kids go to college.)

3rd rate sites are fine. 4th rate are better. Especially if they involve half-way houses.
